Mrs.Joyce Beer
The
WHITEBRIAR kennel was established in 1939 by the late Mrs.Joyce Beer in the beautiful environs of Tavistock on the edge of
Dartmoor in Devonshire, England. Mrs. Beer founded
her stock on the famous Famecheck and Freshney bloodlines and for many decades bred lovely westies noted for their beautiful
heads, wonderful coats, excellent bone and lovely temperaments.
5 generations of whitebriars
In 1975 Maureen joined the Whitebriar kennel as a kennel- maid enjoying the wonderful lifestyle, not
only sharing the beautiful Devonshire
countryside but also sharing the Whitebriar prefix and exhibiting some eight Champions to their English titles (no mean feat)
. After Mrs. Beer’s death, Maureen returned to her native New
Zealand in 1982 taking with her six young Whitebriars and has continued to successfully breed
and exhibit her beloved westies winning many Best In Shows along the way and more importantly, producing many lovely, healthy
westie puppies ,making many families and households complete.
Class of 79
2009 has seen
the Whitebriar prefix join the co-ownership of Vanessa Edwards whose love and enthusiasm for the breed ensures that the Whitebriar
prefix will be around for many more years to come. The Whitebriars enjoy a happy lifestyle here in the lovely Waikato countryside with
Maureen amongst the Totaras and Bellbirds at Taupiri and amongst the Edwards family near Te Awamutu.
